Kate Bush achieved great success with her 1985 single “Running Up That Hill”. It topped the Australian Singles Chart for the first time in 36 years. The hype surrounding the release of the fourth season of the mystery series Stranger Things on Netflix made this possible.
While “Running Up That Hill” had entered the singles chart at number two a week earlier, this time the song was able to establish itself at number one. Bush overtook Harry Styles with “As It Was”. At the end of the article, you will find the video for “Running Up That Hill”.
TOP OF THE CHARTS – ALSO IN AMERICA
Kate Bush is also doing extremely well in the American charts. “Hounds of Love” reached number 1 on the album charts. It was Kate Bush’s first #1 album in America. On her website, Kate Bush commented on the unprecedented success:
“You may have heard that the first part of the fantastic, riveting new season of ‘Stranger Things’ just released on Netflix.
It features the song ‘Running Up That Hill’ which is brought to life by young fans who love the show – I love the show too! ‘Running Up That Hill’ has therefore charted worldwide and reached number eight in the UK. It’s very exciting!
Thank you to everyone who supported the song. I am eagerly awaiting the release of the rest of the series in July.”
STRANGER THINGS
The hit series is set in the fictional small town of Hawkins in the 1980s. In the new season, the series character Max (Sadie Sink) listens to Kate Bush’s song over and over again on her Walkman. The first seven episodes of the fourth season of Stranger Things were released on Netflix on May 27th. Viewers can watch the season finale in the form of episodes 8 and 9 on the streaming provider from July 1st. Another final season is planned.
